Autopsy of a modern skate shoe

Observant old bean that I am, I have made a curios observation as of late. Looking back, the average shelf life for a pair of skate shoes in the formative years of James Andrew Carolan was 4-5 months tops. Worth mentioning as well that at this point they were degraded well beyond any socially acceptable state and should have been canned much earlier. Currently I've been wearing the same pair of Vans Era Pro since about March and (almost disappointingly) they remain pretty much intact. Now I'm still shuffling around helplessly on a skateboard when the opportunity arises and my...

Vans unveil all new LXVI collection

June saw Vans instigate a new collection launch that was shrouded in mystery and intrigue. The mysterious box gave very little away except for the LXVI logo printed on the bottom corner. The codes to the combination lock were sent out globally, allowing those in possession of the box access to the contents. Inside was an insight to the Vans amazing and progressive new collection LXVI (as in '66 in Roman numerals.) LXVI was always going to cause a...The Future. Available Now.

Well, the creative bods at New Balance HQ have come up with another inspired (literally) reincarnation for their classic 576 shoe. This time, it's the areas surrounding New Balance's homeland of European manufacturing: The Lake District. Vans Off The Wall: 1966

A little while ago we posted about the Vans Off The Wall: 1966 movie, the brand's first skate movie, believe it or not. The DVD of the movie is now out, and it boasts some beautiful packaging in the form of a 100 page book chock full of photography taken from the making of the film, PLUS a 21-track music compilation to boot. For sneaker heads, this is a must purchase. For real. Here's the trailer for the film and some imagery taken from the book for your viewing pleasure. www.vans.eu/1966...vans-book_transp-1

Grail Status

Sneakers are a HUGE part of my life.. (even though mine are really small!). However, there is and always will be one sneaker for me... The AM90 Infrared. In case you didn't know, this is the Nike Air Max 90 in it's original colourway.. Here's a pic for you.. Beautiful aren't they!! Although I was only about 3 when these were released, for as long as I can remember I've wanted a pair of Infras. I think it's mainly because they represent the beginning of the creation of, in my opinion, one of the 2 best styles in the Air...5049137104_e747cb2bca

Expect the freshest in sneaker culture through daily posts, as well as in-depth stories and features. Plus, the guys will be commissioning their own print series based on the theme of Art & Sole (of course) - the first of which comes from the legendary James...
