DJ Premier Reigns Supreme.

So, the legendary Manhattan Records in Tokyo is celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year. And to mark the milestone with a bang, the wax store is putting on an event in the form of a battle between two of the world's most legendary, iconic musicians: DJ Premier (Gang Starr) and Pete Rock (of Pete Rock and CL Smooth). Without these two, it's pretty safe to say music wouldn't be what it is today. Anyway, Premo's produced some of my all time, top records (including tracks from Nas' 'Illmatic'). The man is a straight up legend. And here he is rocking...

King HQ.

Earlier today I hopped over to King headquarters along with the homies from The Daily Street to get a sneak peak at the freshly delivered Autumn/Winter 2010 samples. In case you don't know, The Daily Street is a discerning London-based fashion, art and music blog with a strong focus on the UK. It's only been live for four or so months, but the guys have around 1,300 fans on Facebook already. They don't even work on the site full time. That's no mean feat. The sample set for King's AW10 collection was pretty strong. I gotta say, if those...

Virus Syndicate.

If you don't already know, King affiliates Virus Syndicate are four cats hailing from Manchester that deal in raw, bass-heavy drummery. Deftly infusing dubstep, grime, breaks, jungle and more grime, the Syndicate's tracks are only good for one thing: making you jack that body. Perfect for a Friday, I'd say. Anyway, the chaps have a new record - 'The Breakout Triology' - dropping in April: Here's the inlay: Looking pretty good right? The guys have also got a new single coming out with dubstep supremo Benga which drops next month. Keep an eye out, with a slew of US...

Magic Boxes: King SS10 Lookbook.

King have always been strong conceptual thinkers, and their SS10 lookbook cements this reputation further. Employing some always on-point photography from regular collaborator Neil Bedford (Billionaire Boys Club, Stussy, Nike Sportswear), modeling from turntablist extraordinaire DJ IQ and a magic, bottomless cardboard box, the chaps at King bring a lookbook that boasts some refreshingly tongue-in-cheek stop motion animation. Which also happens to provide some excellent insight into what to expect from their forthcoming spring/summer collection. Take a peek: The collection drops the first week of March - keep your browsers on www.king-apparel.com for more info....

King Apparel Sample Sale: 29th January.

Sample sales ABOUND over here around Brick Lane way. Most of them are pretty forgettable though; you walk in, you peruse the rails a little, you walk out. King are taking over Dray Walk gallery on 29th January for their winter sample sale though, which means guaranteed freshness. You'll be able to get your paws on men's samples as well as past and current seasons' garments at trade prices. For me, it's all about King outerwear. However much we moan and groan, the weather is still frosty. And the perfect solution is a toasty King jacket. Like these. The...
