Its getting hot in here… so put on all your clothes.

Cancer Research released some very sobering stats through BBC News yesterday, confirming that Men’s Skin Cancer has doubled in 30 years. Apparently, although more women are diagnosed, more men die from the disease. Unfortunately us brits are about as much of a stranger to the sun as cats are to a bag of bricks and a canal; and after the casualties that I saw in Victoria Park last weekend, it appears that hunting out the suntan lotion that you last used circa 1984 is the last thing you want to do when there’s a bbq, football and a six pack waiting for you in the park.

So, to save your embarrassment at work (and a trip to the doctors) with third degree burns after a day in the sun, Columbia Sportswear have brought out a a range of tees and shorts that include sun protection technology called Omni Shade, that helps block UV rays from reaching your skin, allowing for more carefree hours in the sun.

The Omni Shade products offer sun protection from UPF 30 – UPF 50 and carry The Skin Cancer Foundation‘s Seal of Recommendation, as a further note many of the Omni Shade products will have Omni Dry  and Omni Freeze Technology incorporated in to also keep you cool, protected, and stop you stinking in the sun too.  Happy Days.

That’s not to say that you shouldn’t be looking after your exposed skin with lashings of suncream, mind.
