With the Tour de France starting this weekend in Rotterdam (don't ask), catch some of the best crashes from tdf previous below. Warning: Not all these guys got up and please excuse the cheesy commentator. Running from Saturday July 3rd to Sunday July 25th 2010, the 97th Tour de France will be made up of 1 prologue and 20 stages and will cover a total distance of 3,642 kilometres. The 2010 Tour will be launched from the south side of Rotterdam, for a prologue time-trial. D&AD New Blood 2010

Canoe popped around the block to the Private View of this year’s best fresh college talent in photography, illustration and graphics for the D&AD New Blood showcase. New Blood is one of the most exciting parts of D&AD, as creative professionals judge which University stand, team or individual really stands out from the crowd and are worthy of the recognition and attention of the D&AD Best New Blood title. Now I’m perplexed about what I witnessed so I’ll make it brief in note form and as open as possible before I get shot down in flames. - Trends: I...

Simple is always best

Nokia has released a charging kit that uses a dynamo powered by a bike's wheels. You will need to maintain a speed of about 4mph (6km/h), said Nokia and charging times will vary by speed but a cyclist completing a 10 minute journey at 6mph (10 km/h) will produce enough power for 28 minutes of talk time or 37 hours of standby time. The kit works with Nokia phones that have a 2mm charging jack (aka the smaller one) and will be made available before the end of the year. Pricing has yet to be announced. Similar devices from Pedal & Power...

Persona

What do you carry on your persons? Why do you carry these things? What's the attachment? Valid thoughts indeed when I witness CC from the office cycle in with an oversized, bulging at the seams messenger bag that weighs at least the same as me (a lean 12st!). What does he carry in that thing? Pies? Small children? So what do you carry and why? On the radar for a while but still worthy of a gander, especially for those with a little voyeur about you, a much needed daily dose by way of Jason Travis' series looking into...

Ortovox Avalanche transceivers at The Snowboardtest

While out playing in the mountains, every now and again, the morbid side of me always asks ‘Am I safe going here?’. Like most boarders from the UK, the majority stick to pistes with a few little detours here and there, but it’s just these occasions that can catch you out and put yourself and your party in the shit. Big shit. Watch this very lucky skier get it very wrong... A few weeks ago on The Snowboardtest in Kaunertal Austria, in glorious spring riding conditions, a notoriously dangerous time of year, a few of us Canoers thought it...

Shot by Kern

I’ve been a long time advocate of boobs... oh and beer, and last night a few of the Canoers and our guests ‘Is Tropical’, sauntered over to the Kenny Schachter ROVE gallery with the Hoxtonite and Shoredette Set, to relish in some ‘Girls and Dope’ - not a Beastie Boys track but a splendid evening of ogling at Richard Kern's beautiful prints of semi-glad, pre-coital felines, chugging on doobies and flashing their tits (in the name of art) while supping on free beer and tangy Koppaberg cider, care of Vice Magazine. The show will feature everything from an English...

California is a place

Canoers love California. From biking down in Orange County, InandOut Burger, skating LA, shopping, boarding at Mammoth, surfing – up to the ranches of Carmel and the bay area of San Fran, Cali has it all. But the shocking truths aren't always so glamourous. Here these first 4 epic films, produced, directed, and shot by Drea Cooper and Zackary Canepari, show some of that harshness you know is out there but choose to ignore... and it’s all in Cali, happening in Cali. The 4 films are beautifully shot and composed and are well worth the time. Sit back and...
