Sponsored Try-Athlete…

One of Canoe's friends who has what can be described at best as a sedentary job making lovely 3D models on a computer, but a active life outside the office came to us with a problem. He was going for it and had signed up for a Triathlon (the UKs fastest growing sports movement don't you know - true!) and was having problems. As we have looked after NB for a while we knew problems can arise when you don't have the right shoes. I say can, because it is totally possible there can be other problems, but it's a...

K-Swiss re-issue heritage shoes for SS09 …

K-Swiss has re-issued two shoes from its Heritage Collection for Spring Summer 09. The shoes, the Zurich Original and the Hof Original, were both original styles issued back in the 1980's. Both shoes feature detailing that has been synonymous with K-Swiss for the past 43 years, such as the five lace D-rings and three piece toe. The Zurch Original and the Hof Original will have a limited run this summer at both ASOS and Schuh, with no more than 700 pairs being sold across the two stores. K-Swiss has been producing footwear for on and off the tennis court for...

FLY53 say neigh to ketamine…

With all this sunny weather we keep having its time to reassess the old wardrobe and start thinking about the fast approaching summer. Having an unhealthy obsession with the British weather has taught me that this summer is going to be a scorcher, so with that in mind now's the time to stock up on all those fabulous t-shirts. To detract any unwanted attention away from all that 'pasty arm' syndrome that we Brits are blessed with at the start of every summer, FLY53 have come up with a blinding collection of printed Ts that are sure to delight! Whether...

JanSport Heritage Series Preview

JanSport is coming over all sentimental with their latest series, a resurrection of the bags that started it all in the halcyon days of 1967. These are an honest and loyal remake, retaining every shred of appeal whilst also strikingly unique compared to the sea of generic packs out there. You're going to have to fight dirty to get a hold of one of these as I don't expect to see them hanging around for too long on the shelves. That said, you don't want to miss out either; it could be another forty years before we see them again......

The Great Outdoors

Canoe undertook some brisk hill walking last week in the Peak District to test the latest New Balance has to offer in outdoor gear. We took press along to the infamous Stanage Edge and scrambled up in the swirling fog. Only stopping to have a quick change of shoes and a bite to eat. An adventurous afternoon ensued with a full on adventure race with a well deserved hearty pub dinner in the evening and awards ceremony. An excellent effort from everyone that took part! ...

Word To Mother

The Word To Mother gallery exhibition opened last night on dray walk with a resounding theme of salvage and re-appropriation. Some nice little pieces, particularly the little gem above. There's nothing like a good old blatant metaphor to get me going. The night was a good one and they were repaid with a very healthy turnout. keep your ear to the ground for the next one......

Rollapaluza

Wednesday night is often a time where I look to embark on something a little different from the usual social tedium of propping up a bar and slurping guinness. In that respect, last night was a sparkling success. Rollapaluza took place in the amazing Frame studios and was so Shoreditch scene I was surprised I didn't bump into Nathan Barley down there. For the uninitiated; Rollapaluza is a race of sorts where the back wheel of the bicycle is hooked up to a set of rollers that measure potential distance covered. The format is simple; a head to head race...

See all the pics here of last night's Terra Plana pop-up launch party. The weather held out for a fun night of free booze and good looking shoes (with some great music thrown in for good measure!) ...
